Good luck charms: do they work or not?

Some people question whether good luck charms or amulets really work or not. I can't speak for all the charms or amulets, but I do know something about the good luck charms and amulets made in Thailand. I live there. I was a Buddhist monk there. I have made the Thai amulet/good luck charm a study. Here's what I have come up with. A lot of the amulets sold in Thailand were made in Buddhist temples using a clay material consisting of crushed, dried flowers, broken and crushed temple roof tiles, old broken and re-crushed holy Buddhist amulets even the ashes of a dead old holy monk that was thought to have had magical powers, all the while going through an elaborate chanting and meditation ceremony. I have been to several of these ceremonies and could feel something happening. What, I'm not sure, but something. I believe that there was a presence there looking over those ceremonies. Now, you may ask, does these amulets now have magical power in them and will it bring me good luck? Maybe, maybe not. The monks I ask about it tell me this. In order for the luck to work, the wearer must live by 5 simple rules. He must live by them both in word and action. Here are the rules; 1. Do not hurt or kill (anything, human or beast). 2. Do not steal (anything). 3. Do not lie (at all). 4. Do not commit any sexual misconduct (in action or thought). 5. Do not take alcohol or illegal drugs (the #1 cause of the other 4 rules being broken). The holy and respected Buddhist monks here in Thailand tell me, if you can follow these simple rules, luck will follow. Buddha put it in real simple terms; Do no evil, Do only good, and purify your mind. May good luck and good health be with you always.

Contributor's Note

I don't claim to be an expert on good luck charms but I prefer to call myself a knowledgable scholar on the Thailand amulet. Be that as it may, these are only my opinions and observations.
